minutei was just at a friend's house and she also has a pocket reform and installed the latest system image for imx8mp to emmc. and i noticed in sway there's an M instead of the mnt logo. weird! and also clicking help didn't work, so pocket reform handbook didn't open.00:34
joschi can try to reproduce this on imx8mq classic reform tomorrow -- at least the font issue should be the same across all platforms00:40
minuteif it's a bug it must be fairly recent00:40
+ bkeys (~Thunderbi@h211.16.186.173.dynamic.ip.windstream.net)00:42
joschfixing the M might just be a thing of changing "format": "M" to "format": "<span font='MNTIcons'>M</span>"00:45
joschi also messed up my waybar after installing texlive-fonts-extra00:46
josch"format": "{icon}" used to work but i should've added a <span font='Font Awesome'>00:47
joschthe help button in reform-tray should just open x-terminal-emulator with reform-help... will try tomorrow00:52

minutejosch: would you say this ticket from 2021 is now complete? https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform-system-image/-/issues/15 :D00:56
minutejosch: oh so the M is reproducible for you? so it comes with a waybar update?00:57
- LainExperiments (QUIT: Quit: Client closed) (~LainExper@user/LainExperiments)00:58
joschminute: no, i didn't try it yet but i recently had symbols become different after installing fonts because i didn't explicitly ask for the font i wanted and was relying on auto-choosing00:59
joschminute: and with the M in waybar we also do no font selection so maybe the same thing is happening?00:59
minutejosch: makes sense. i thought i had put the font for the M in the css00:59
joschyes, in .modules-left label01:00
joschmaybe the class name changed?01:00
joschmight be better to explicitly add a <span font=> into the format string instead of relying on CSS selection01:00
minuteyeah01:00
minutethat's true01:01
joschclosed the issue01:01

minutebtw not sure where to put this yet, but today in HDMI testing with a311d i found that there are certain conditions during early boot that decide if HDMI transmission will work in that session (until the next reboot) or not01:26
minutefor example, we have a 4k lg monitor that when plugged in at boot on a311d pocket reform, it will render hdmi nonfunctional until the next reboot01:26
minutebut when a 1080p monitor is plugged in at boot, it works immediately, and the cable can then be plugged into the 4k monitor and it still works01:26
minutea camlink 4k also works but it offer 4k@30Hz as the maximum, which might be the difference01:27
minuteso i wonder if something is going on in uboot _or_ if the hdmi driver toggles i.e. a type of scrambling on for 4k@60 that is broken and doesn't get turned off again01:28
joschthen i'm lucky it works for me. I have a311d in motherboard 3.0 as a kodi setup and hdmi works fine for several weeks now (fresh boot every day, sometimes multiple times). 1080p tv screen01:28
joscherrr... motherboard 2.0 of course...01:32
minutejosch: ah yes on 1080p it always works01:32
joschi see01:32
minutehmm i just found a weird chromium thing01:32
joschadvantages of household tech from 15 years ago XD01:32
minutewhy do these patches differ https://sources.debian.org/patches/chromium/134.0.6998.88-1/fixes/libsync-rk3588-panthor.patch/ vs https://github.com/amazingfate/chromium-debian-build/blob/really-fix-libsync/debian/patches/fixes/libsync-rk3588-panthor.patch01:32
minuteoh i see https://github.com/amazingfate/chromium-debian-build/commits/really-fix-libsync/debian/patches/fixes/libsync-rk3588-panthor.patch01:34
minutethe patch was updated later01:34
minuteguess i'll just have to wait some more :301:36

minutejosch: the advantage is that nobody knows which one is the right issue tracker because there are a lot of repositories and it's not clear to people which one is the right one for their issue20:18
minutejosch: and the other advantage is that i/we have to only check one list of issues.20:18
minutejosch: sorry to hear about the projector ;/20:18
joschminute: is there an easy way to re-assign issues from one issue to the other?20:18
joscherrr20:18
minutejosch: do you mean move the issue?20:18
joschfrom one project to the other20:18
minutei hope there is20:19
joschbut yes, i agree that for many things it's hard to figure out whethere they belong20:19
minutehttps://about.gitlab.com/blog/feature-highlight-move-issues/20:19
joscheven further, for many things even as an expert there is no clear "right spot"20:19
minuteyeah20:19
minutewe can still link to code etc of all the repos20:19
joschi also sometimes wonder where to open a therad on the community forum when it affects all reform devices, for example20:20
minutehmm yeah, there could be a new section or pocket+reform could be merged perhaps20:20
minutenew category i mean20:20
joschi think it's fine to have classic and pocket specific sections20:23
joschquite a few problems are specific to the device20:23
joschbut lets say somebody asks about an apt-upgrade problem, or about reform-tools or about a problem that affects a SoM but is not specific to the platform the SoM is installed on20:24
