razzy | Hello, is reform community active? | 10:38 |
razzy | are reform notebooks arriving roughly on time? | 10:40 |
razzy | Anyone tried physically disabling wifi/bluetooth on RK3588 reform? | 10:54 |
razzy | I will read answers in log | 10:54 |
gordon1 | razzy: which reform? classic or pocket? | 10:57 |

razzy | gordon1: reform classic | 11:06 |
gordon1 | don't have it at hand but isn't it just a pcie wifi there? you can just remove the card, or are you asking about hard rfkill? | 11:07 |
razzy | gordon1: what do you mean by hard rfkill? in my understanding RK3588 has integrated wifi/BT circuit. A311D has also external wifi/BT card for better performance. i may be wrong. | 11:15 |
razzy | question, has printed reform classic handbook any more information than online version? I am looking for most complete schematics to everything possible. | 11:19 |
gordon1 | i don't think it does, at least i don't see it on the icore-3588q module on the pics available on the internet | 11:20 |
gordon1 | you can find most complete schematics at the github repo here, you have to install kicad tho https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform | 11:21 |
gordon1 | s/github/gitlab/ | 11:21 |
minute | razzy: rcore/rk3588 doesn't have wifi/bt built in. | 11:56 |

gustav28 | afternoon! had an idea the other day, does the mmt reform classic have a *free* internal usb port or are they both used for the keyboard/trackpad? | 17:34 |

BoostisBetter | minute: hope you are having a relaxing Sunday. Just wanted to let you know that after moving back to the official sysctrl firmware, I have learned how to make the kb super stable. It involves NOT using the hyper key to set or enable RGB backlighting, and ensuring that the psuspend process is not tweaking the leds. If those things are beign down then I can manually set the backlight with amospallo | 18:32 |
BoostisBetter | 's rmt tool and the keyboard doesn't seem to have any issues. Curious thing indeed. | 18:32 |
josch | gustav28: no, but there is enough free volume to add a usb hub: https://community.mnt.re/t/adding-lte-modem-and-other-usb-devices/1215 | 18:39 |
gustav28 | josch: cool, thanks! I guess an alternative is to desolder one external usb and solder to that? | 18:45 |
josch | gustav28: sure | 18:46 |
josch | gustav28: what do you want to do? | 18:46 |
josch | gustav28: also, you do not need to desolder it -- just stop using the port where you soldered cables to internall :) | 18:47 |
gustav28 | ah, that's true | 19:13 |
gustav28 | i had an idea to mount my hackrf board inside, maybe by designing a custom bottom plate to mount it in | 19:13 |
gustav28 | At first I thought it was only possible in the reform classic, but maybe also in next if the custom bottom plate is deeper effectively making the laptop thicker | 19:20 |
josch | gustav28: just a random idea: if you desolder the dupont connectors from the board, then it's really thin -- maybe that way it will be thin enough to fit by default? | 19:22 |
josch | gustav28: also, the reform next does not have a "bottom plate" anymore | 19:22 |
gustav28 | josch: the reform classic is really thin without dupont (which are those exactly)? I will have to check the CAD drawings | 19:27 |
josch | gustav28: no i mean the hackrf board can be really thin without the dupont connectors | 19:30 |

gustav28 | Ah, yes! | 19:39 |
gustav28 | But probably not thin enough for the next, right? Also good with some space between pcbs I think | 19:39 |
gustav28 | Trying to find the clearance available to custom boards in the next but can't find it | 19:50 |
gustav28 | (will take a look at the cad drawings if they are available) | 19:55 |
josch | gustav28: they are, see: https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform-next | 19:58 |
