minuteupgraded my mnt reform with intel ax210 wifi... now 855 mbit/s downstream at home. not bad!00:21
minutemy pocket reform with the mediatek usb-based m.2 wifi maxes out at 225mbit/s (i guess either limited by wifi 5 or usb 2)00:23

minutegordon1: i use the dual-feed molex antenna on the acrylic piece we mount above the sd card slot13:25
gordon1oh so there is a little window on the side panel now?13:25
gordon1it is not evident on pic from the shop https://shop.mntre.com/spree/products/393/large/mnt-reform-2023-ports-left.jpg?168743776813:28
minutegordon1: no, i was thinking yesterday that it would be prudent to replace the side panel by fr4 for example13:30
gordon1okay, sounds good, would like to hear more about the tests13:31
minutethe reception was good despite of the steel, but i was in ideal conditions at my home yesterday.13:31
minuteso will test now at the mnt hq where it is not ideal.13:31
gordon1weird suggestion: how about make a FR4 antenna panel around the ports13:31

fricklerhmm, not having the opportunity to create a bootable sd card is tough. I would send them one if they're not too far away or maybe minute would? ;)15:05
fricklermight alse be a nice idea to add that to the handbook, sort of like creating a rescue disk for a windows system15:06
fricklerbut I also have no idea what the "no rmaL,0,0,0" in the oled means, that looks weird15:08

grimmwareminute: I did a dumb thing which I will obviously post about in greater depth at some point when I'm not supposed to be working, but behold the prototype PocketDeck: https://usercontent.irccloud-cdn.com/file/HeUj59Wq/1743516259.JPG16:13
+ chomwitt (~chomwitt@2a02:587:7a07:1100:1ac0:4dff:fedb:a3f1)16:13
grimmwareIt's latched in on the hinge holes at the back and the little lid opening divot at the front so whilst I obviously don't recommend it you can in fact hold it upside-down and the pocket doesn't fall out. You can also close the lid.16:14
hramrachif this fits into your pockets you have some big ones :)16:18
[tj]hramrach: all your pockets should be rated for 2 wine bottles16:19
grimmwareI mean the pocket doesn't fit in my pockets so...16:19
hramrachlooks like the 'wells' on this keyboard are made only by mounting different height keycap, interesting.16:24
gordon1minute: did you use regular dual-band wifi patch antenna or was it some special antenna for wifi 6e?16:28
grimmwarehramrach: yeah they're kailh compatible gamma caps16:29
grimmwarethe stls are available online16:29
grimmwarethey're designed for resin printing but I took a stab at filament printing them with a finer nozzle and it worked out okay - not the most aesthetic thing and took some work to tidy them up but it's cool to be able to fab shit at home16:30
grimmwareNeed to add some latches to hold the keyboard in place which I'll probably take a stab at this evening16:31
- chomwitt (QUIT: Ping timeout: 246 seconds) (~chomwitt@2a02:587:7a07:1100:1ac0:4dff:fedb:a3f1)16:57
[tj]is there a howto for running an amd64 app image on the pocket?16:59
[tj]it might be too big a thing - it is nrfconnect16:59
fricklerpocket with wings, nice17:04
grimmwareyeah I mean by "deck" I obviously mean "sofa tray"17:13
+ Ar|stote|is (~linx@149.210.28.65)17:36
jfredgrimmware: That's pretty wild and I like the look of it. If you were to use it constantly in that form factor of course the Pocket's actual keyboard is less useful, but I'm now imagining an integrated design where you fold the two wings out from the center after opening it17:51
grimmwarejfred: the pocket just clips in and out so it's really just for at-home usage for now17:52
grimmwarethat said I wanna build a handle and a strap for it :D17:52
joschgrimmware: wooooah mega!! :D17:59
fricklerwait, was it you who was pondering some pogo pin stuff some time ago? having some connectors on the back of the pocket make it really dock to the deck and have USB connectivity would sound even cooler18:29

gl0bhttps://usercontent.irccloud-cdn.com/file/tXu7klgG/mega-boy.png18:48
hramrachpogo pins might be fairly difficult to align against a dock unless the spacing is large to make room for large contacts on the other side19:14

+ Guest2171 (~mjw@2001:1c06:2486:a800:7602:5eff:dc71:a72c)19:24
fricklerI'd also go with some other connector with a self-closing/opening lid, I just remembered pogo pins getting mentioned in some mnt context (or so I think) earlier19:24
jfredgrimmware: oh I had a thought for another tweak that might work, could put a thumb trackball on the right hand side like this: https://ultimatehackingkeyboard.com/product/trackball19:26
grimmwarefrickler: yeah it was me who mentioned that. The keyboard is Bluetooth though so that particular constraint was dealt with heh19:34
grimmwarejfred: they keyboard “wings” are modular by virtue of my very small print bed so it’s possible to just change the part out to accommodate other boards and peripherals. Really needs another revision before it’s worth building against tho19:38
grimmwareI’m gonna live with it for a while before I iterate.19:39
jfredoh neat, I didn't even notice the three thumb keys on each side weren't part of the same assembly19:40
gordon1minute: tried to test suspend with rk3588 but realized too late that i don't have wakeup button configured, need to find how to do that in device tree first19:41

- chrcav (QUIT: Ping timeout: 252 seconds) (~chrcav@user/chrcav)20:29
gordon1oh, that sounds good, so it does not need special antenna to get good ~800 mbit20:29
minutegordon1: i think you can just enable a bunch of wakeup sources in sysfs dynamically on all the uarts, no?20:29
gordon1yeah, i tried to enable it for console uart but i think the issue is that it just dies, not suspends and are waiting for wakeup20:30
minutegordon1: wait a second, it looks like you can exit suspend just like that?20:31
