minutejosch: fbcon rotation is no longer necessary01:52
bremnerignorant question, does barebox have framebuffer output?01:54
minutejosch: i also think we shouldn't use clk_ignore_unused01:54
minutebremner: yeah that's the main draw here01:54
bremnercool01:54
minutebremner: we ported the rk3588 dsi drivers to it01:54
bremnernot that I don't love having a serial cable hang out the back of my pocket01:55

joschminute: i'm trying to build the barebox ci-202601 branch and get this https://paste.debian.net/hidden/ab62e8fa -- i used mnt-reform-defconfig but math.h includes seem to be missing from some files?11:11
joschadding the includes i get further until the linker complains: https://paste.debian.net/hidden/33fb09d811:13
minutejosch: maybe a misunderstanding11:14
minutejosch: i thought fbcon rotation was dropped a longer time ago since i improved the panel driver to report the orientation/rotation11:15
minuteso it should be automatic11:15
joschoooh okay, then we can probably drop it everywhere even in u-boot11:17
josch(will test this)11:17
joschminute: i started from a fresh "git clean -fdx && git reset --hard ci-202601" and in contracst to before skipped the "make menuconfig" step and it builds now.11:30
joschminute: barebox loads and it boots linux from the bootspec file generated by the develop branch of reform-tools11:43
joschThe display inits early, so i see barebox on the screen but once linux loads, the backlight remains on but the screen is black. I can log in via serial but the serial output is somewhat garbled until i log in: https://paste.debian.net/hidden/2841881411:45
joschBnard: MNT Pnbjdt Rdform fith RCNRD RJ2488 Loduld11:50
joschshould be:11:50
joschBoard: MNT Pocket Reform with RCORE RK3588 Module11:50
joschit's nearly always the same bit that is bad11:50

joschwow it really enumerates all the bootspec files, opens the dtb it references and then skips the bootspec file with not-matching dtb11:53
minutejosch: yes, this is one of the blockers, dsi panel doesn't work in linux when inited in barebox12:44
joschah details! :D12:45
minutejosch: the serial issue i haven't encountered12:45
joschit's also interesting that serial works fine once we are in the login shell12:45
joschin any case, i wanted to verify that the bootspec which reform-tools generates are working and they are. Should I roll another release or is there anything else you'd like to have in it?12:46

joschi just tested two more SSDs with 6.18 and they come up fine14:59
joschi even tested the upgrade scenario from an old system image with 6.17 without any problem... :(14:59

joschTIL: having a rather long (15 cm) unconnected fpc cable connected to your rcore board wifi/bt connector gives you... read errors from the SD-card so bad you cannot even boot from it??? o017:00
+ johl (~johl@wikidata/Jens-Ohlig)17:12
joschnope, ssd works just fine17:28
joschminute: i've now tried five different SSDs. I can give you a list of model numbers if it is of any use but maybe this was an upgrade problem and it was taken care of?17:29
elbmy serial always looks like that, I assumed my serial adapter was just too slow17:30
elbI bought a new one but haven't tried it17:30
joschInteresting. This adapter never had this problem with any of the RK3588 boards here so far and since it's fine once one is logged in, maybe it's an issue on the software side?17:31
elbI had so many reform things planned over winter break, and got to none of them :-(17:31
elbin particular I feel like my "one semester later" review video is _way_ overdue17:32
