kop316minute: So after using the new display after a day, there's a bright spot in the display: https://www.talbothome.com/nextcloud/s/p6JBwPXi7dsnZw5 (I put two pictures to try and show it, but it is a bit hard to see). I tried playing with the case, but it won't go away. Any thoughts?00:06

kop316hmm, it seems like the top left part of the display won't lay flush with the opening becuase of the ribbon and the back circuitry03:30

kop316ok, I figured out the issue (and the solution): the back circuitry was never meant to lay flush with the display like I originally thought. I only found it out due to https://mntre.com/media/reform_md/2026-02-28-feb-update.html showing display v2s in production image. Once I did that, the display sat flush and I was able to close it (though that back one is getting crowded with all of the ribbons....)04:01
kop316If I may suggest, it would be nice to have a "how to" on that. I followed the ifixit manual, and some of the things weren't mentioned (like the laser mylar frame) and were non-obvious to me (like the PCB ribbon pressing against the frame)04:02
kop316ohh and the magnets too, it took me a minute to figure out the orientation that made sense for it (but I can be slow at that...)04:03

joschi now also finall06:14
joschi now also finally am having the strange keyboard reset issues on pocket reform that people are talking about on the forum06:14
joschit is quite clearly a thing with the cable because once the keyboard stops working i just slowly open up the pocket reform a bit more until the OLED display shows a T06:15
joschat that point, dmesg also shows that the usb device came back06:16

jfredkop316: it's this discussion in the forums: https://community.mnt.re/t/keyboard-and-trackball-unresponsive/3299/3513:23
kop316jfred: Thanks! I have seen siilar issues, but after replacing the display, it hasn't shown up (granted, that's only been a day so far)13:30

johlHey hey. Is it possible to buy a Pocket Reform motherboard only? Couldn't find it on the websites.13:42
jfredkop316: Maybe possible you tugged the cable out of the way of obstructions a bit while replacing the display. I haven't had the display bezel off yet though so not sure what's exposed directly underneath13:43
kop316jfred: you can get a good look at that here: https://files.mastodon.social/media_attachments/files/116/080/551/124/321/805/original/f3d0e549df3eab73.jpeg I also have an rk3588, so it's bit more corwded under there13:44
mhoyeA question: I appear to have hung the keyboard in my 1stgen Reform. Not the computer, which I've shut down by ssh'ing into it, just the keyboard.13:57
mhoyeDo I have any recourse here beyond opening it up and unplugging it?13:57
mhoyeI probably need (badly) to update the firmware in this thing, so hardly the end of the world.13:58

joschminute: i know that you (for valid reasons) do not want to build patched blender in reform-debian-packages main but i just created a POC for building patched blender 5.0.1 from experimental in the blender5 branch so if you throw me your patch, maybe blender can be built from that branch semi-regularly when needed?16:46
joschminute: trying to follow your fedi post my current patch is this one: https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform-debian-packages/-/blob/8411ede2d6179298eb0b09a11599e310a31c9ae2/patches/blender16:47
